SIDNEY - Sidney Public Schools announced a former educator will return to serve in an administrative role at the high school this fall.

According to a press release from the school system, Ryan Plummer was named the new Sidney High School principal Friday afternoon. He takes over for Chris Arent, who's leaving the school after 10 years to become the new superintendent at Potter-Dix Public Schools. Arent will remain the principal through June.

"We're excited to have Ryan return back home to Sidney and be a part of our team again," a school spokesperson said. "His understanding of the community and his optimism make him a great fit for our staff and kids."

Plummer is currently the principal and activities director at Leyton Public Schools. He returns to Sidney after a year away. Prior to his time at Leyton, Plummer was a Business Education teacher, FBLA sponsor, senior class sponsor and coach at Sidney Public Schools.
