CHADRON -- The northernmost part of the Panhandle is under a Winter storm warning until 8 p.m. tonight.

Accumulation of snowfall is anticipated to continue in northwest Nebraska until 6 p.m. tonight. Chadron is expected to get 5 to 8 inches of snow.

Officials say the travel conditions are very dangerous due to icy and snow packed roads.

The high temp in Chadron will reach about 27 degrees, and winds are expected to reach 16 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Accompanying the snowfall in the Panhandle is freezing fog. Freezing fog happens when water droplets in fog are supercooled. The supercooled water droplets stay in liquid form until they land on something they can freeze on.

Freezing fog and snow fall have made the roads in the Panhandle very dangerous. However, the snowplows have been hitting the roads all over the panhandle hard today. Although the snowplows are remaining active, visibility is poor and driving conditions are dangerous, officials say.
