SIDNEY - "His family, friends and cars were his whole life."

David Anthony, the son of the late Lorin Anthony, said fixing old cars was his dad's passion. That was the reason behind getting all his dad's cars and hot rods out and holding a "Car Show of Life" for the former Anthony's Body Shop owner on Saturday in Sidney.

Lorin passed away on April 13 at the age of 77.

Lorin graduated High School from Scottsbluff in 1962. When he returned from serving as a submarine tender mechanic in the United States Navy in San Diego and Honolulu, he opened Anthony's Body Shop.

He met his wife, Geraldine Faye Fritzler, in 1966 and they were married in 1967. They had two children, Michael and David.

Their sons remember their dad loving taking a piece of scrap metal with four wheels under it and turning it into a hot rod, traveling to car shows, drinking coffee with his buddies at 10 a.m., yelling from the stands for his grandkids at sporting events, fixing a dent or buffing a car on a Saturday, walking the beaches in Mexico and trying to beat everyone at a board game or cards.

Friends and family share memories on social media about the passing of Lorin.

Kris Adams said, "He was honestly the best of the best. Thoughts with his family."

Tiffany Hillon shared a story about Anthony.

"Lorin was such a great guy. My step-father worked for him for many years. I'd often have to call the shop to speak to him or go down there for something and Loren was always so kind to me. He'd let me sweep the shop for a few dollars or he'd play a quarter game with us. I hope his passing was peaceful and he's resting somewhere beautiful."
