House fire displaces Sidney family

SIDNEY - No injuries were reported in a house fire at 2669 El Rancho Road in Sidney early Friday morning.
Sidney Volunteer Fire Department Chief Matt Butts said the fire was contained to an area in the kitchen.
The Red Cross and Firefighter Ministry's are assisting the eight-member family that was displaced due to the damage from the blaze.
16 fire fighters responded to the call at 12:59 a.m. and remained on scene for two and half hours.
The fire in under investigation by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's office. The Sidney Police Department and Regional West Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene.
The SVFD also responded to another fire call Thursday evening at The Village apartment complex at approximately 7:25 p.m. Early reports indicated a resident smelled smoke from a malfunctioning breaker box. No flames were ever spotted.
