SIDNEY -- Much of western Nebraska and into northeast Colorado woke up to snow covering the recent melting snow and ice.

As of 9:44 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service reported 96 percent humidity and winds from the northwest at 13 mph.

What that means is people of Sidney and Cheyenne County woke to limited visibility and falling snow. As the morning grew later, the snowfall diminished as predicted. A two-vehicle accident occurred at 10th Avenue and Illinois Street in Sidney this morning.

Early Thursday (December 29) morning, Merino, Colo. fire department urged drivers to reduce speed in consideration of visibility and icy conditions on Interstate 76 near Sterling.

Tonight's forecast for the Sidney area is 14 above zero tonight and rebounding into the 40s Friday. Saturday is expected to be another days in the mid to high 40s before our next chance of snow on New Year's Day, and more during Monday, January 2.
