Sidney school board recognizes December students of the month

SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County School District No. 1 board of education recognized the December middle/high school students of the month in its Monday meeting.
7th grade: Jarrett Mazour -- Jarrett Mazour is the seventh grade student of the month for December. Jarrett leads by example in the classroom. Jarrett is productive in group settings, and is always on-task when working individually. While involved in extracurricular activities at Sidney Middle School, he has maintained high grade averages in each class. Jarrett is the son of Mark and Lottie Mazour.
8th grade: Madelyn Kennedy -- Madelyn Kennedy has been nominated as student of the month because she is incredibly driven, hard working and respectful. She leads by example and has been instrumental in getting the 2022-2023 Sidney Middle School yearbook done fore the first semester. Mady is very respectful and knows how to get a point across and put ideas out into a group setting, while always being considerate of those around her. She has been a true joy to have in class. It is easy to see how much she cares about her school work her friends, and her community. It will be a pleasure to watch all she accomplishes the rest of the year and her future years as a Sidney High School Raider.
9th grade: Ben Monheiser -- Our ninth grade student of the month is Ben Monheiser. Ben was selected because he is hard working, personable and shows great leadership skills. Ben is the son of Monica Monheiser and Matt Monheiser. He is involved in football, basketball and track. He enjoys lifting and hanging out with his friends and family. Ben's future plans are to play college football and go into real estate or sports medicine and be an athletic trainer.
10th grade: Dakota Ahrendt -- Dakota Ahrendt was nominated as student of the month for the sophomore class because she is a good student, hardworking, respectful and personable. She is the daughter of Pam and Travis Ahrendt. Dakota is involved in choir, band, show choir, Sidney swim team, manager for cross country and wrestling. She also participates in the St. Patrick's Faith Formation. Dakota likes to help teach gymnastics at Elevation Tumbling. She enjoys spending time with dogs and babysitting. Her favorite classes are Biology and Fitness. Her future plans are to go to school for photography and physical therapy.
11th grade: Kobe Peterson -- Student of the month for our junior class is Kobe Peterson. Kobe was chosen because he is hardworking, personable, driven and motivated. Lacey Russell and Tucker Peterson are his parents. They enjoy watching Kobe compete in Cross Country. He is also involved in Student Council, NHS, FCCLA Chapter President, and is secretary of his class. Kobe enjoys golfing when he is not working at Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. His future plans are to attend college at WNCC and get and education in Mortuary Science.
12th grade: Jenna Bondegard -- Senior student of the moth is Jenna Bondegard. Jenna was nominate because she is hardworking, personable, creative and kind. She is the daughter of Andrea Truetken. Jenna is involved in Cross Country and DECA. She enjoys painting and snowboarding in her free time. Her future plans are to attend the University of Wyoming and earn a bachelor's degree in graphic design.
The monthly performance award acknowledges achievement as well as other criteria.
These criteria are: 1) Superior academic performance, (or) dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward work; 2) exceptional work effort toward a particular class project; 3) outstanding contribution to the class; 4) leadership exhibited in the class/school; 5) citizenship emphasized and modeled; and 6) service to school.
