SIDNEY -- Bikers and non-bikers are invited to a poker run in support of suicide awareness June 17.

The ride is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. including the auctions at the end of the ride. Register the morning of the event.

The Saturday of Father's Day Weekend ride starts at the Silver Dollar in Sidney and ends at The Rusty Bucket in Chappell. Stops along the way include Peetz, Sterling and Sedgwick before the finish in Chappell.

The event is in support of "Be Here," a local non-profit organization that supports suicide awareness.

Lavon Hajek said the Be Here organization started after a poker run was held seven years ago as part of the healing process after her husband John lost his brother to suicide.  The event continued to grow, one year raising $10,000 for the American Society for Suicide Prevention. Be Here was formed to keep more funds in the local community.

Be Here is supporting the 6th Annual Suicide Awareness Poker Run. The poker run raised $14,000 in 2022.

Riders pay to ride, and can purchase cards at each stop. The event will also include t-shirts with the entry fee, and live and silent auctions.

The route starts at the Silver Dollar, with the next stop the Hotspot in Peetz, then Henry's in Sterling, R.D.'s Tavern in Sedgwick and concluding at The Rusty Bucket.
