OSHKOSH - The Garden County football team is looking to improve on their 6-2 mark during their debut season in six-man football a year ago.

Chad Dormann, entering his fourth season as the head coach, says they bring back plenty of experience and he's excited to see what they can do. The Eagles will have four starters back this fall on both sides of the ball.

"Despite speed bumps last season, just having game experience and knowing what to do, because it is a different game," Dormann said.

When Dormann joined Garden County 25 years ago, they played 11-man, eventually jumping down to 8-man.

"Making the move down from 11-man to 8-man really wasn't too bad, but this one just seems like night and day difference," Dormann said.

In 2022, the Eagles were ineligible for the postseason, because school enrollment jumped back to the 8-man standards. However, Dormann and last year's seniors decided it would be best to stay in six-man since they already adjusted to the new game.

Dormann says they're healthy and ready for their first game of the season on Friday at Arthur County. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
