CHAPPELL, Neb. -- A school in Chappell gets a donation after Shaunna Mashek submitted a walk to school picture for Stretch Across Nebraska.

Mashek's picture of the children walking to school won the donation.

She chose to donate the $500 to Creek Valley Elementary School, more specifically Mrs. Riley's fifth grade class.

987 The Big Boys' Hunter Arterburn met with the Creek Valley fifth graders.

"I thought what better school than Creek Valley to win that $500, and the picture that I included on there was our annual walk to school day," Mashek said. "Our whole elementary participates as well as our staff. We all meet at the Chappell City Park around 7:30 and we head on up, and they get their exercise in the morning."

Mashek said that this was part of the National Walk to School Day that takes place on Oct. 6. She said that it is something that they have done for many years.

She said that she chose Creek Valley because it's the best school in the panhandle, and Mrs. Riley's class was chosen because they are an active and competative class.

The $500 will be goin to Creek Valley thanks in part to Medica and Stretch Across Nebraska.
