The Nebraska State Patrol says two people were killed in a "serious accident" between mile marker 177 and 179.

Emergency responders closed the eastbound lanes of I-80. Traffic was at a standstill for several hours. One lane reopened at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday.

No cause of the crash has been announced. Snow was falling and covering up the road as a post-Thanksgiving snow storm pushed through central Nebraska at the time of the accident.

An investigation into the crash continues.
