SIDNEY -- On December 31, 2023, one era ended as a new one began.  Kurt and Judy Adden closed an unexpected adventure, selling Sidney Glass & Signs to Nic and Katie Haas.

"As most of you know, the glass industry is all I’ve done over the last 44 years. I started in the glass industry before we even had power and air tools to remove glass. As you can imagine, that heavy lifting takes a toll on a person," Kurt Adden said in a social media announcement. "I take immense pride in my work and I have no doubt that Nic will keep the legacy alive and will uphold the same level of dedication. We’re so excited for the next chapter!"

Adden said he spent 44 years in the glass business.

"We opened and managed Sidney Glass and started to serve the community of Sidney April 15, 1990. Then, January 1st, 1999 we officially bought it and took full ownership. In our time of ownership, we’ve renovated 80% to 90% of the storefronts in Sidney and have completed jobs all within 150 mile radius of Sidney," Adden said.

The new owners, Nic and Katie - are two of the nicest people that could possibly take the business over, Adden said in a social media announcement. . He said he values the Sidney Glass & Signs customer base and genuinely wants to leave the shop in good hands. He added he trusts Nic and Katie Haas to keep the shop running smoothly.

"I’m not saying goodbye to Sidney just yet. Currently, the plan is to stick around for at least a year to facilitate Nic’s transition. If he needs me around longer, I’ll be there - but I have full confidence in Nic’s capabilities. Working for Nic will also give me the opportunity to do things I enjoy and finally take some time off," he said.
