UPDATE: Palomo taken into custody this afternoon
 
SCOTTSBLUFF -- At about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, the Morrill Police Department was notified of a female stabbing victim who was treated at the Regional West Medical Center Emergency Room.
 
Officers responded and determined that the 40-year-old female victim had been stabbed in the abdomen and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred at a local residence and the victim was transported to the hospital by two roommates following the incident.
 
During the investigation, the suspect was identified as 52-year-old Martin Palomo of Scottsbluff. An arrest warrant has been issued for Palomo with charges of 1st Degree Domestic Assault (Class IIA Felony), Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony (Class II Felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Prohibited Person (Class III Felony), Burglary (Class IIA Felony) and Terroristic Threats (Class IIIA Felony).
 
A search warrant was executed at a Gering residence after information was received that Palomo may be at that residence, but he was not located. The whereabouts of Palomo are not known at this time.
 
The Morrill Police Department and Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident and were assisted by the Scottsbluff Police Department, Gering Police Department, Mitchell Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team, Gering Fire Department, Regional West Medical Center Ambulance Service.

At about 2 p.m. today, February 1, authorities reported Palomo was taken into custody.
