Former Chase County teacher receives 10-20 years in prison for sex crimes
IMPERIAL, Neb. — A former teacher at Chase County Schools in Imperial has been sentenced to 10-20 years in prison for sex crimes involving students.
Jerimiah Vlasin, 41, was sentenced in Chase County District Court on Tuesday.
Vlasin, who taught agriculture and served as a Future Farmers of America (FFA) advisor, received 8 to 17 years for possession of sexually explicit material. He was also sentenced to an additional 2 to 3 years for child abuse and sexual abuse by a school employee.
The crimes, which date back to 2014, involved two students who were 17 and 18 years old at the time. Vlasin was arrested last year after an investigation by the Imperial Police Department, with support from the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office.
In addition to his prison sentence, Vlasin will be required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.
He was placed on administrative leave in August 2023 following his arrest.
