Assault at Sidney apartments leads to arrest of one man
SIDNEY, Neb. — A Sidney man was arrested Sunday night on multiple assault charges following an alleged domestic incident in the 1900 block of Ash Street, according to Sidney Police.
The Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center received a call at 8:40 p.m. from a 26-year-old woman accusing Angel J. Ross, who is on probation, of assaulting her and her father while intoxicated.
Officers arrived at the apartment complex at 8:47 p.m. and made contact with Ross and his brother. According to the arrest affidavit, Ross initially locked the apartment door upon seeing law enforcement but later complied when officers asked him to unlock it.
Inside the apartment, police observed broken glass and blood. Officers noted that Ross had blood on his left hand, which they stated "did not appear to be his." The affidavit also reported a strong odor of alcohol on Ross, who appeared to have difficulty speaking.
Police documented visible injuries on the woman, including a red mark on her face consistent with her account of being struck by Ross. Her father had apparent fingernail marks beneath his eyes.
The father was taken to Sidney Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Ross was also transported to the hospital for evaluation, but refused treatment. He was later booked into the Cheyenne County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and assault causing bodily injury.
