SIDNEY -- Christmas was nice to local agriculture students.

Hometown Liquor staff and customers donated more than $1,600 to the Youth in Agriculture program.  Donations were made through the store's "round-up" program. Customers are offered the opportunity to round up their purchase to the next dollar, or higher. Each month donations are earmarked for a specific group or cause.

During the month of Dec. 2,4535 contributions were made through Hometown Liquor’s “round-up” program to Cheyenne County’s Youth in Agriculture program. Customer donations totaled $1,127.34. Hometown Liquor matched $500 for a total of $1,627.34, rounded up the donation to $1,628.

As of January 1, the Round-Up program will be supporting the Peetz School boys’ and girls' teams.
