Sidney declares snow emergency amid overnight snow storm
SIDNEY, Neb. — The City of Sidney declared a snow emergency effective from midnight Sunday night through midnight Monday night after a winter storm blanketed the area with five inches of snow.
City officials urge residents to take immediate action to comply with parking restrictions to facilitate efficient snow removal. During the snow emergency, parking is prohibited on designated emergency snow routes, marked by red and blue signs posted along streets. Vehicles left parked on these routes may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense. Emergency snow routes can also be found on the City of Sidney's website.
Residents are encouraged to move vehicles off streets where possible to assist snowplow operations across the city. City officials say they will focus their efforts on clearing emergency routes and main roads first, followed by residential areas.
The city also reminds residents to not place snow from their property onto the city streets. Instead, you're asked to scoop snow from your sidewalks and driveways into your lawns.
