KIMBALL -- The High School Varsity Boys’ basketball game vs. Prairie High School will include a special performance during half time.

As part of the Mini Longhorns Cheer Camp, Kimball kids will perform during half time with the high school cheerleaders.

The game is on Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. The kids will meet for the cheer camp that morning from 8 - 11:30 a.m. to learn a dance routine and a few cheers.

The mini cheerleaders have their own spot in a section of bleachers that they will cheer along with the High School Cheerleaders during timeouts in the first half of the game. They will then perform a 2–3-minute dance with the cheerleaders during half time.

The camp is for Pre–K – 6th graders and usually generates an average of 30-40 kids.

Cheer Coach Carrie Tabor says this is something the cheer team does to give back to the community and introduce kids to cheer. It is also a way to expose the youth to one of many programs offered at the high school.

“It’s a good way to get kids and adults to the games as well,” Tabor said. “The little ones enjoy just being there and being part of the high school environment. It’s just a fun time for them to get out and do something fun, make some noise in a productive manner, and have a crowd that cheers for them.”

For those interested in signing your child up, the deadline to return the registration form is today, Jan. 7. For questions, email Carrie Tabor at [email protected].
