Post Fire containment up to 50 percent

CRAWFORD, NE — Crews battling the Post Fire are reporting higher containment numbers. Sunday night, incident command reported the fire was 50 percent contained. This is up from 15 percent containment that was reported Sunday morning.

CRAWFORD, NE — Crews battling the Post Fire are reporting higher containment numbers. 

Sunday night, incident command reported the fire was 50 percent contained. This is up from 15 percent containment that was reported Sunday morning.

Most of the containment was achieved along the eastern, northern and southern sides of the fire. 

The flames have scorched about 5,500 acres.

The pre-evacuation order for the City of Crawford is no longer in effect. People south of Highway 20 should remain alert and vigilant to changing conditions.

The recommended evacuation order for anyone south of 4 Mile Road is still in effect.

Overnight Sunday into Monday, winds were expected to shift directions, blowing out of the north of Monday after coming from the south in the days prior.
