SIDNEY, NE — Another First for Sidney FFA is in the bag.

"The energy was awesome," Sidney FFA member Paxton Wilson said. "Everyone was just very into it and it was a lot of fun."

Wilson and eight other FFA members from Sidney’s chapter recently took a trip to the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis. It was the first trip to Indy for chapter president Kord McMillen and the rest of the crew.

"Going to my first ever session was fun, exciting, loud," he said. "You could just feel the energy at seven in the morning."

Sidney brought back its FFA chapter last year. It had not had one since the 1950s. There was no National Convention last year due to the pandemic. The students given the opportunity this year took full advantage.

"Another memory was meeting a guy named Dale Brisby," McMillen said. "I got a signature and picture with him."

Now VP Angel Helms says they hope to bring their experiences back to their hometown to continue to grow FFA in Sidney.

"I hope the rest of the members that did go gain some leadership as well as just taking advantage of the opportunities given to us because there's nothing like it," Helms said.
