KIMBALL, NE — One of the most successful high school golfers in the panhandle will continue her career in the panhandle.

Kimball senior Payton Wise signed to play golf at Chadron State College Monday.

Wise finished in third place at this year's Class C Girls Golf Championship tournament. She shot a 161 in the two-round tournament, just four shots back from champion Cecilia Arndt.

The Kimball senior is used to performing well at the championship level. She also finished third at the state tournament her sophomore year in 2019.

In 2020, Wise took home a sixth place finish at the state championships her junior year. Her freshman in 2018 year she finished tied for 12th place.*

Wise will join a Chadron State Women's Golf team that has seven top-five finishes in its last 12 tournaments. The Eagles have claimed two wins in the last two seasons: The Yellow Jacket Fall Classic in Spearfish, S.D. in Sept. 2020 and the Hardrocker Invite in Rapid City, S.D. in Sept. 2021.

*The Girls Golf Championships were one round instead of two in 2018 due to weather.
