Lady Raiders/Red Raiders Win at Bayard

The Sidney Lady Raiders and Red Raiders both improved to 4-1 on the season with road wins on Saturday at Bayard. The Lady Raiders survived the previously undefeated Tigers 55-46 while the Red Raiders pulled away from Bayard for a 61-43 win.

BAYARD - The Sidney Lady Raiders and Red Raiders both improved to 4-1 on the season with road wins on Saturday at Bayard. The Lady Raiders survived the previously undefeated Tigers 55-46 while the Red Raiders pulled away from Bayard for a 61-43 win.

The Lady Raiders used a 23-point second quarter to turn a 4-point first quarter lead into a 36-26 lead at intermission. Senior Brynna Ross, who tallied 10 first quarter points, fueled the Sidney run with 8 more points in the second on her way to a game high 27 points.

Bayard sophomore Scarlett Norman led a charge with 8 third quarter points to begin the second half, but Sidney kept the Tigers at arms-length to lead 44-38 after three. Ross added her fourth three-pointer and a couple of free throws in the final period to secure the 55-46 win.

Sophomore Isak Doty’s 6 points spurred the Sidney Red Raiders to a 16-12 first quarter advantage, a lead that Sidney would not relinquish the rest of the game. The Raiders outscored Bayard in every quarter as Sidney continued to pull away for a 61-43 win.

Sidney once again had three players in double figures, led by Sawyer Dickman and Wyatt Heckenlively with 15 points. Isak Doty ended the game with 13 points.
