Sterling reports power outage as high winds batter region

Several people are without power in northeast Colorado Wednesday afternoon.

Several people are without power in northeast Colorado Wednesday afternoon. 

According to Xcel Energy, over 500 people in and near Sterling are without power this afternoon. The company does not have an estimated time power will be restored at this time. 

Xcel Energy's power outage map indicates about 60,000 total are without power in Colorado Wednesday afternoon. Most of them are located in the Denver Metro area. 

The outage comes as the area deals with 60-65 mile per hour wind gusts.
