Chadron High Superintendent Ginger Meyer announced on Monday that due to unforeseen circumstances that there would be a coaching change in the Cardinals boys basketball program.

Meyer went on to name current Chadron High boys assistant coach Kyle Sanders as the new head coach.

Sanders takes over for Mitch Barry who just wrapped up his 4th season as head coach. Barry went 46-46 in his stint while leading Chadron to the district championship game this past season against Kearney Catholic.

Sanders will inherit a young team that loses 4 of its 5 starters from this last season, and 5 of its top six scorers.

When reached by News Channel Nebraska's partners at Chadrad Sports, Meyer said that she could offer no further details on the situation other than what has already been released.
