Seven Huskers Named to All-Region Teams
Seven Nebraska softball players were named to an All-Midwest Region team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday. Mya Felder and Cam Ybarra were named to the all-region first team, Olivia Ferrell and Abbie Squier received second-team honors while Sydney Gray, Billie Andrews and Courtney Wallace were named to the third team.
Felder was selected as an all-region performer for the second time in her career, as she was named a third-team All-Pacific Region selection in 2021 at Oregon. Felder was also named to the All-Big Ten second team this season, and she was the first baseman on the Big Ten All-Defensive team. Last week, Felder received All-Tournament honors after her role in leading Nebraska to the Big Ten Tournament title.
Ybarra earned her first career all-region honor, adding to an impressive list of accomplishments for the senior. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native was also a first-team All-Big Ten selection and the second baseman on the Big Ten All-Defensive team. Ybarra was on the Big Ten All-Tournament Team and was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Ferrell was selected as a second-team All-Midwest Region honoree. At the conference level, Ferrell was named to the All-Big Ten second team and the Big Ten All-Tournament team.
Squier received her first all-region honor. The sophomore from Lincoln was named a second-team All-Midwest Region selection. Squier was also a first-team All-Big Ten and All-Defensive team selection.
Billie Andrews was selected as an all-region performer for the first time in her career, to go along with second-team All-Big Ten honors.
Gray joined Andrews on the All-Midwest Region third team, giving the Huskers three sophomore All-Region selections.
Wallace was selected as an all-region performer for the second time in her career, as she was named a second-team All-Midwest Region selection in 2021. In addition to her regional award, Wallace was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive team and the Big Ten All-Tournament team.
The Huskers' seven all-region selections are the most in program history. Nebraska has produced 99 all-region honorees in school history, a total that ranks second in the Big Ten. Ferrell and Wallace's selections increased Nebraska's number of all-region pitching selections to 28 in the last 27 years.
