The National Weather Service out of Cheyenne Wyoming announced on Friday, June 24th that the dry weather from spring has led to worsening drought conditions across southeast WY and the Nebraskan panhandle.

According to the NWS, Cheyenne and Kimball Counties are in a severe drought. Platte, Goshen, and Laramie Counties are also in a severe drought. A vast majority of the rest of the area is in at least a moderate drought.

The NWS also has these areas in a hazardous weather outlook for thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, which will lead to a higher chance of precipitation over the weekend.

According to the Climate Prediction Center, the panhandle and southeast WY should be getting above-average precipitation for the area over the next couple of days.
