Elevate group hosts sex trafficking awareness presentation

SIDNEY, Neb. -- The local Cheyenne County Elevate group is hosting another event for community awareness.
The Goal for Elevate, is to collaborate with community partners covering a multitude of educational topics that affect the communities, individuals, and business leaders on the overall health and wellness pertinent to our communities. The vision, is to elevate and enhance knowledge, concerns, and resources.
Elevate chooses a pressing topic each quarter to have a free presentation on to educate the community of Cheyenne County.
On August 29, Elevate is hosting a sex trafficking awareness presentation. Sheriff Adam Frerichs and many other speakers Elevate coordinated will be at the Sidney High school Auditorium from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The other guest speakers for the event will be Glen Parks, Madeline Walker, and Arianna Nouragas.
Nebraska Attorney General’s Office Glen Parks is the Coordinator of the Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force.
Parks has been the task force coordinator for over five years.
Glen Parks graduated from UNL law school in 2001, clerked at the Nebraska Supreme Court, and worked as a civil litigator. He spent nine years in India, where he worked on projects addressing human trafficking. He and his family returned to Lincoln in 2015.
Madeline Walker is from the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual & Domestic violence
The Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence is a statewide advocacy organization committed to the prevention and elimination of sexual and domestic violence. We work to enhance safety and justice for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by supporting and building upon the services provided by our network of local programs.
Walker will also be speaking on “trends and prevention in the Nebraska Heartland with Human Trafficking.”

Arianna Nouragas is from The Doves Program and will also be providing education, prevention, and resources.
