First National Avocado Launching Championship coming to North Platte
For the many among us who love competitions involving throwing fruit as far as one can, North Platte will be the place to be next month.

By News Channel NebraskaNORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- For the many among us who love competitions involving throwing fruit as far as one can, North Platte will be the place to be next month.
The First National Avocado Launching Championship will be coming to North Platter on Sept. 10.
This is the first event of its kind. It was created by the North Platte Tourism Bureau in order to give people another reason to visit the city.
Tourism officials said 22 teams have signed up already but registration is still open.
The team that finds a way to launch an avocado the farthest gets a $5,000 prize.
