Logan County welcomes new face at Chamber retirement celebration
STERLING, Colo. — The Logan County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the retirement of the previous executive director.
On Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. the community gathered at the Chamber building to celebrate Glenna Phelps-Aurich’s retirement from the Chamber.
Phelps has been the executive director of the Logan County Chamber for five years.
“The community has been so embracing and I have been able to do a lot of events and help businesses to grow,” Phelps said.
The community celebrated with drinks, ice cream, cake and lots of food.
“People are very receptive and helpful to the Chamber of Commerce,” Phelps said. “They’re always willing to step-up and help with events and help sponsor them.”
Phelps said she will miss the people the most.
“I’ve loved the people, my board of directors has been amazing,” Phelps said. “They’re all great folks.”
The Logan County Chamber is also welcoming a new executive director, Elinor Brown, who has been training with Phelps to take over the position.
Brown said she is excited for her new position because she enjoys working with the community.
“The people are amazing, they’re resilient, friendly, and warm,” Brown said. “They will treat you like family if you treat them with kindness.”
Brown said she will continue to build on things that Phelps has already started in her five years with the Chamber.
“I think the next step is understanding community into the future and into the generations that follow,” Brown said.
Phelps is looking forward to more family time in retirement.
“I plan to do some traveling, spend more time with my grandkids, and just relax a little,” Phelps said.
