Leyton ends season at district volleyball final
Junior Jolee Ryan had a match-high 13 kills and Overton High School won the Class D2-2 District volleyball title with a 25-14, 25-10, 25-16 victory over Leyton Saturday afternoon at Sutherland High School.
SUTHERLAND - Junior Jolee Ryan had a match-high 13 kills and Overton High School won the Class D2-2 District volleyball title with a 25-14, 25-10, 25-16 victory over Leyton Saturday afternoon at Sutherland High School.
The Eagles (32-4) advance to the Nebraska School Activities Association State Volleyball Championships for the fourth year in-a-row, fifth overall. They finished in third place in 2020.
Junior Natalie Wood finished with 12 kills. Overton had a team total 37 kills, 2 blocks, and 12 ace serves.
Leyton (20-13) ended the match with 20 kills, a pair of ace serves, and a block. They were led by junior Trinity Beutler's six kills. Junior Sydney Fortune added five kills and junior Kaitlyn Craig had two kills and an ace.

The Hay Springs volleyball team drew first blood against defending D2 state champion Falls City Saturday in the D2 District 6 finals by winning the first set, but the top-ranked Irish dominated the rest of the way for a 4 set victory
The 14-25, 25-7, 25-15, 25-20 victory moves Sacred Heart to 25-8 on the season and into next week’s state tournament.
Hay Springs, which had won 10 in a row and 21 of its last 22, ends the season 25-6.
Garden County was swept by Humphrey St. Francis in another Class D2 district final.
