SIDNEY - A warm meal with an open heart was served Tuesday at the Sidney Elk's Lodge to encourage community and togetherness in a Thanksgiving celebration.

The free-will donation meal featured turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, and a variety of pies. Proceeds will benefit the Elk's Lodge revitalization project. The project is a $2.2 million remodel of the event space that will remove the current ceiling and expose the balcony seating. Renderings of the project are expected to be released in the near future.

Jeanette Ford organized the third annual event and says it's not possible without a whole host of volunteers. According to Ford, 300 total meals were served, including 100 meals delivered to the elderly and disabled. 190 pounds of meat was served during the three-hour event.
