The City of Kimball declared a Snow Emergency effective through Thursday, January 19. Kimball also closed the public library because of the storm.

City of Kimball issues Snow Emergency

PANHANDLE, Neb. -- The City of Kimball declared a Snow Emergency effective through Thursday, January 19.

The City is asking citizens to please not leave parked vehicles on the designated Emergency Snow Routes effective immediately through Thursday, January 19, 2003 evening so the street department can clean those streets on our Emergency Snow Routes. The designated Emergency Snow Routes are: 1) Chestnut Street from First Street to 4th Street; and 2) Second Street from Howard Street to Oak Street. Signs are posted on those routes.

The Kimball Public Library also closed this morning in response to the storm. 

Residents and commuters in the Panhandle of Nebraska are in the third round of blizzard conditions this winter.

Roads and highways are closed; businesses and events are closed, delayed or postponed due to the weather.

Weather started moving into the area Tuesday afternoon with dense fog changing to freezing fog. Wednesday morning greeted commuters with several inches of snow and closed roads. In addition to Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 30, 

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne, Wyo., reported visibility in the Sidney area dropped to .15 of a mile Tuesday as a result of freezing fog. As the night grew later, the fog changed to snow with much of the area waking to several inches of snow and closed roads.
