Sidney Teams Notch Wins Over Torrington

SIDNEY – The Sidney Lady Raider and Red Raider basketball teams scored impressive wins over Torrington in a make-up game at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility on Tuesday. The game was postponed from December 16, because of weather. The Lady Raiders ran past the Trailblazers 57-25 while the Red Raiders cruised to a 78-42 win.
The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Sidney held Lady Blazers to single digit scoring in every quarter while steadily building a lead. The Lady Raiders scored 24 of their 57 points in the game off of Torrington turnovers and also scored 22 points off offensive rebounds.
Sidney was led in scoring by Reese Riddle with 14 points, while Kayla Westby chipped in eight points. The Lady Raiders improved to 13-1 on the season and travel to Chadron on Friday for a Western Conference matchup with the 8-9 Cardinals.

The Red Raiders took their first lead in the game 6-5 at the four-minute mark of the first period on a Koleman Kaiser post-up in the paint. From there Sidney went on a 15-5 run to take a 21-10 lead into the quarter break and didn’t let up. The Red Raiders went to the locker room at half up 24 points, 41-17.
Sidney dominated inside, outscoring Torrington in the paint 42-14. Sidney finished with four players in double figures led by Micah Schneider with 14 points. Koleman Kaisers tallied 12 points while Luke Uhlir came off the bench to make five of his eight shots to score 11 points. Sophomore Landon Riddle added 10 points to help the Red Raiders improve to 11-4. The Red Raiders are back on the hardwood Friday when they travel to Chadron to face the Cardinals.
