SIDNEY - Registration opened Monday to win club seats to see Kenny Chesney and an annual membership to the Cheyenne County Community Center with 987 The Big Boy.

The radio station issued challenges Tuesday to The Center and Sidney Regional Medical Center to compete with them in the 3rd Annual Big Boy Big Wheel Race at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29.

The three businesses are teaming with Sutton Home Gallery and Pedalers Corner to help promote News Channel Nebraska's "Small Towns Matter" giveaway, where elementary schools can register to win $2,500 for the school and bike helmets for every student. Potter-Dix Elementary won the contest in 2020. Sign-ups start Monday at newschannelnebraska.com and continue through April 30.

Two competitors from each team will race two miles of the Deadwood Trail, from near Interstate 80 to The Center. Listeners who correctly predict the race winner will be entered into a drawing to win the concert tickets and membership to The Center. Predictions can be registered HERE

Dr. James Popovich and Dr. April Smith will compete for the SRMC team; Melody Klosky and Terry Petersen are on The Center's team; and Hunter Arterburn and Justin Richards are in for The Big Boy.

Contestants will go through four training sessions by taking classes offered at the Cheyenne County Community Center. Each week will feature a new class with one of their instructors on The Big Boy 987 Facebook page

Deeona Johnstone, Catie Bondegard, Hope Feeney and Emily Thomas are past racers in the event.

The 3rd Annual Big Boy Big Wheel Race will be carried live on 98.7 FM, newschannelnebraska.com, the free NCN app, and The Big Boy's Facebook page.
