Overnight snow helps rebuild 'Sonny's Super Snow Mountain'

SIDNEY - Despite snow overnight Wednesday, and cooler temperatures and another round of light snow possible this weekend, one meteorologist thinks the "Sonny's Super Foods Super Snow Mountain" could be completely melted by mid-week next week.
WeatherEye Meteorologist Mike Karow says the next unsettled weather pattern won't add much to the snow pile on the corner of 10th Ave. and Toledo St. in Sidney, but will keep it lingering around through the weekend.
"We could add a little bit of snow as an upper-level trough looks to work in from the west Saturday into Saturday night," Karow said. "Not looking for any overly heavy snowfall amounts, but maybe a couple of inches of additional accumulations for Saturday and maybe into early into the day on Sunday. We're back into some 30s for highs for your weekend, but we're looking for some warmer temperatures coming up next week."
According to Karow, about an inch snow fell in Sidney Wednesday night. Snow removal crews cleared the Sonny's parking lot and added more snow to the pile Thursday morning.
Radio station, 987 The Big Boy, is giving away a $250 gift card to Sonny's Super Foods to the person who correctly guesses what day the snow pile will be melted down to the bare parking lot. Over 670 people registered guesses before the sign-up period closed on March 3.
Karow says despite the cooler temperatures this time of year, the sun angle will help with snow melt even with temperatures in the 30s.
"I would say by maybe Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, so I'm going to go with the end of the month of March at the latest (on when the Sonny's Super Snow Mountain will melt away)," Karow said.
The City of Oshkosh received three inches of snow Wednesday night. Garden County schools delayed the start of classes Thursday because of the weather conditions.
