McCook Sweeps Dutch Zorn Track Titles

The McCook track and field teams swept the girls and boys team titles at the Dutch Zorn Invitational Track and Field meet in Gothenburg on Thursday.

GOTHENBURG – The McCook track and field teams swept the girls and boys team titles at the Dutch Zorn Invitational Track and Field meet in Gothenburg on Thursday. The Lady Bison scored 85 points to edge runner-up Kearney Catholic by four points while the McCook boys tallied 109.5 points to run away from host Gothenburg by 17 points.

Both Sidney teams finished the day in the middle of the pack. The Lady Raiders scored 42 points to tie Holdrege for seventh place while the boys tied Broken Bow for sixth place with 46 points. Senior Jacob Dowse and junior Chloe Ahrens were Sidney’s only two gold medal performances. Dowse cleared 6’3” to win the Boys High Jump and Ahrens edged Scottsbluff’s Paige Horne by three one hundredths of a second to capture the 100 Meter High Hurdles.

Sidney will be back in action on the track Tuesday, April 18th, when they travel to Mitchell for the Mitchell Invitational. Field Events will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Track Events starting at 11:30 p.m.
