Scottsbluff sweeps Gering

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff and Gering soccer teams wrapping the regular season this week and the two teams playing against one another on Tuesday.

The girls contest saw Scottsbluff improve to 6-6 on the season as they defeat Gering 8-0. Lady Bulldogs falling to 5-11 on the season.

Anna Kelley leading the way for Scottsbluff scoring three goals in the win. Ella Foote chipping in with two goals including a penalty kick score. Maddie Kovarik, Shae Willats, Adryana Rodriguez each scoring a goal as well.

The boys contest saw both teams take momentum in the first half but Scottsbluff gained control in the second half to pick up a 5-1 win.

Scottsbluff came out of the gates strong behind Braden Anderson scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead. Gering got on the board thanks to a penalty kick score from Dominic Mendez to make the score 2-1 going into halftime.

Bearcats took the momentum back early in the second half behind a Kellon Harris score to make add to Scottsbluff’s lead at 3-1. Anderson pushed across his third goal and Kent Castillo Leos also chipped in with a score.

Scottsbluff improves to 7-5 on the season while Gering falls to 1-12 on the season.

Both Bearcat teams wrap up the regular season with a match-up against North Platte on Thursday. Gering will wrap up their regular season Thursday against Douglas.
