Boss City Brewing announces move to new downtown Sidney location
SIDNEY - A family-run Sidney brewery is moving to a new location this fall.
Stan and Melissa Norgard, owners of Boss City Brewing Company, currently located in the basement of Sam & Louie's Italian Restaurant in downtown Sidney, announced Thursday morning they will be moving their business to the old U.S. Aprons building on the corner of 12 Ave. and Jackson St.
Melissa says the new space offers their business a chance to continue to grow through in-store sales and distribution across Nebraska.
"Stan and Jacob brew all the beer in the basement at Sam & Louie's," Norgard said. "Most people haven't been down there, because the space is so crammed. We do a lot of food prep down there as well, so we're always working on top of each other. We have very limited walk-in space. When you keg a beer it needs to be cold."
The Norgard's say they love being able to drive traffic off the interstate with their craft beer centered around the tastes of their customers. They're thankful for the support of the local communities and are excited to establish their roots even more in downtown Sidney.
"The layout of the building works great with this roll-up door," Stan said. "We can take deliveries in and deliveries out. It just has a good space for a brewery. It was almost like it was made for us."
The building has sat empty since U.S. Aprons closed in the summer of 2019. The Norgards hope to have the brewery portion of their business in the new building by fall of this year.
"We are working on what a taproom space is going to look like for the larger area," Melissa said. "We're super excited for what that's going to be able to develop into. We're looking at some outside seating, a really cool bar area, a place where people can come enjoy a couple of beers, some light food, and just have fun with friends and family."
The Norgard's credit the support of the community, and their staff, for the quick growth of Boss City Brewing. Melissa says the current staff will continue to grow with them by working at both the brewery and restaurant locations.
Sam & Louie's Restaurant in Hickory Street Square will remain open.
