Chappell celebrates second U.S.A. Days
CHAPPELL - With the sun shining bright on the giant American flag painted on the south-side of the Frenchman Valley Co-op grain elevator, the temperatures warmed up in the city plaza for the second annual Chappell U.S.A. Days on Saturday.
Connie Loos organized the event and says this was the second consecutive year for one of the Nebraska Panhandle's newest events.
"We wanted to bring back the Wheat King Festival, or some type of variance of that, so that's what we did," Loos said. "So, we started this."
Events started in the plaza next to The Rusty Bucket Pub & Grub with a flag retirement ceremony. That was followed by kids games, corn hole tournaments, face painting, food trucks, a beer garden and local music, including from the Chappell-based band, "High Horses."
Attendees also had the chance to register to win a 54-inch zero turn riding lawn mower from 987 The Big Boy, 21st Century Equipment, Sutton Home Gallery and The Rusty Bucket Pub and Grub.
