LODGEPOLE - The Cheyenne County Sheriff's office is investigating a two-vehicle head-on collision injury accident in Lodgepole Thursday morning.

Sheriff Adam Frerichs says the Lodgepole and Sidney Volunteer Fire Departments were extricating occupants trapped in the vehicles involved in the accident on Highway 30, near Cleveland Street. 

Authorities say a westbound pickup, pulling a trailer, crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound dually pickup at approximately 9 a.m. Both drivers were transported by medical helicopter to hospitals in Scottsbluff and Greeley, Colo. 

Traffic was blocked in both directions and travelers were advised to reroute around the accident using Lodgepole city streets.

The names of the drivers involved in the accident have not been released by authorities.

Morrill County Ambulance also responded to the scene.
