School board recognizes September students of the month
SIDNEY -- The Sidney Board of Education Monday recognized the September students of the month.

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement.
These criteria are:
1. Superior academic performance, (or) dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A., or attitude toward learning.
2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project,
3. Outstanding contribution toward to the class,
4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school,
5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled,
6. Service to school.
Recognized for the September 2023 Performance Awards are:
7th Grade: Harper Misegadis -- Harper is an excellent student who turns in quality work. She chooses to lead by example. Harper is quick to encourage others to be and do their best. She works well with others and is willing to take on her share of responsibilities. Harper is courteous, kind and respectful. She has an enthusiastic strength that inspires others to believe in themselves. Harper is the daughter of Justin and Courtney Misegadis.
8th grade: Zoey Gorman -- Zoey has been selected as the 8th-grade student of the month for September. Zoey is very active in the school by taking part in sports and activities. She has been a very positive leader and a strong student in the classroom this year. Thank you, Zoey, for being a great student and leader in the classroom. Keep working hard. Zoey is the daughter of Joey and Sarah Gorman.
9th grade: Paxton Ramirez -- Paxton, son of Amanda Rice, is a member of football and JTOH. He enjoys first period and plans to join the U.S. Army when he graduates.
10th grade: Estela Alonso -- Estela, daughter of Maria Arreola, is a member of JTOH, enjoys playing volleyball with her little sister and plans to enter college to become a dentist when she graduates.
11th grade: Maria Mendez -- Maria, daughter of Ana Guzman, is a member of cheer, basketball, track, Unified Raiders, DECA, Skills USA, HOSA, S-Club and St. Pat's youth group. She enjoys tennis, traveling, and teaching herself new piano pieces on her free time and plans on joining the Air National Guard and entering college for radiology or business.
12th grade: Ty Grunig -- Ty, son of Keith and Madison Grunig, is a member of FFA, student council, class president, soccer, NHS, LDS youth group and church volunteer. In his free time, he owns and operates a lawn care business. He loves music and plays seven instruments.
