Lady Raiders End Regular Season with Loss at Gering

The Sidney Lady Raiders had a tough end to their regular volleyball season, falling to the Gering Bulldogs in a disappointing Tuesday night match. The Bulldogs proved to be too much as they swept Sidney 25-18, 25-18, and 25-21.

GERING - The Sidney Lady Raiders had a tough end to their regular volleyball season, falling to the Gering Bulldogs in a disappointing Tuesday night match. The Bulldogs proved to be too much as they swept Sidney 25-18, 25-18, and 25-21.

Right from the start of each set, Sidney found themselves trailing, as they managed to secure a lead only four times in the match. The Lady Raider offense struggled most of the night, hitting only .038 for the entire match.

Gering was a little more efficient, hitting at a .180 percentage for the night. Leading the charge for the Bulldogs was Jacey Cochran, who recorded 10 kills on .312 hitting. Madelyn Rico also had a .312 hitting percentage and contributed eight kills and five blocks.

For the Lady Raiders, Karsyn Leeling paced Sidney tallying 12 kills while hitting .111. Carli Black added five kills to the scoreboard, while the freshman, Reagan Nesbitt, chipped in with five kills on just six swings.

Sidney now shifts their focus to the upcoming C1-12 Sub-District at Bridgeport, where they enter as the second seed. They are set to face the third-seeded Chadron team at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, with hopes of earning a spot in the championship game scheduled for Tuesday.
