Sidney names Carwin as new finance director

Kegan Carwin takes over as Sidney's Finance Director, replacing Lane Kizzire who accepted a similar role with the City of Scottsbluff.

SIDNEY (October 27, 2023)-- In the October 24 meeting of the Sidney City Council, Finance Director Lane Kizzire announced it would be his last Sidney City Council meeting.

It was also make public that Kegan Carwin would be taking over as finance director.

"I will be stepping in as the new finance director for the City of Sidney; following Lane's shoes — I think I have some pretty big shoes to fill —  I think we'll get her kicked off in a good manner. Hopefully, we continue forward with everything we had planned," Kegan Carwin said today.

Carwin was asked what the job description is for a city finance director.

"A lot of that is just maintaining the budgets. A lot of the investments the City handles, as well as just keeping the every day dollars moving, and then flowing, keeping bills up to date and budgeted," he said.

He is a graduate of Peetz High School, graduated Chadron State College with a Bachelor's in Arts Administration with options in management and finance.

He said he spent his time at Cabela's after college, then did some sales, worked at Camping World. The opportunity to remain in Sidney "just fit," he said. " 

He will be working with Kizzire for about 10 days until Kizzire starts working for the City of Scottsbluff.
