Sidney’s Leeling Signs with NU

SIDNEY - Sidney High School senior Karsyn Leeling made it official on Tuesday, she is going to be a Husker. Karsyn, who announced her verbal commitment to Nebraska on social media in September, officially signed her National Letter-of-Intent to compete for the Women's Track and Field program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Karsyn, the Sidney High and state Class B record holder in the High Jump, committed in January along with her brother Camron to compete for Doane University. That was before she drew the spotlight by clearing 5'10" at the Ed Moore Invitational Track Meet in Ogallala on April 1st this past spring.
With her senior track season still to come, Leeling has already earned 74 total track and field medals in her career, including six medals from the NSAA State Track and Field Championships. Karsyn earned a silver medal in the High Jump in 2021 as a freshman and followed that by taking fourth in the High Jump and third in the Long Jump as a sophomore in the 2022 state meet. Last season Karsyn earned double gold, winning the Triple Jump and High Jump while picking up a silver medal in the Long Jump as a junior.
If Leeling can improve on her record performance from last season, she won't have all that far to go to make some noise once she gets to Lincoln. Nebraska's Indoor High Jump record is 6 '3" and the Huskers' Outdoor mark stands at 6 '2 ¾".
