Heaviest snow in central, eastern Nebraska expected Monday afternoon

SIDNEY - The National Weather Service office in North Platte warned drivers Monday morning to expect near impossible travel conditions east of North Platte Monday as a winter storm bears down on the majority of Nebraska.
The weather service said snow started to intensify in southwest Nebraska Monday morning. The heaviest snow showers were expected Monday afternoon as the storm pushes north.
Interstate 80 and Highway 30 were partially covered in snow and ice starting in Brady. The roads were partially covered in snow and ice in Kimball and Cheyenne Counties as of 9:45 a.m. Monday. Highway 71 was also partially covered.
Weatherology Meteorologist Mike Karow hopped on board Sidney radio station, 987 The Big Boy, Monday morning to discuss the blizzard warnings, winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories in effect for the central and eastern parts of the state.
Breezy conditions, producing patchy blowing snow and cold windchills, are the main threats in the Nebraska Panhandle. A high wind watch is in effect for Laramie and Goshen Counties in southeast Wyoming Tuesday.
