SIDNEY --  One of the many smiling faces at North Elementary School will be moving on to new adventures.

Nancy Rowlett announced her retirement in the January 8 Board of Education meeting.

"I have dedicated 40 years of my life (and more) to educating children. Next to my faith and family, it is my true love, and I have been fortunate to be able to do what I enjoy and have it as my career. Now I feel it is time to begin the next part of my life journey," Rowlett said in her resignation letter.

She thanks the North Elementary staff and the school district for her opportunity to teach.

"I would like to thank Sidney Public Schools for the opportunity to learn and grow in my career. I have worked with some phenomenal staff through the years and have thoroughly enjoyed many memorable experiences at SPS. I truly have the most amazing and dedicated North All Star Staff and I am honored to be able to work with them through the years," she said.

She said it is time to focus on her next stage in life: family.

"I plan to retire at the end of my contract this year so I will be able to enjoy more time with my husband, kids and grandchildren. It is with deep gratitude that I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people, yet I am ready to begin the next journey in my life," she said.
