State Patrol Urges Focus During Distracted Driving Awareness Month

The Nebraska State Patrol is reminding all drivers to keep their focus where it matters during Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Keep your eyes on the road and off your phone while you’re behind the wheel.

To kick off April, which is recognized as Distracted Driving Awareness Month, troopers, deputies, and officers are participating in a national mobilization focused on safe driving. The campaign began on Monday, April 1, and runs through Monday, April 8.

“Through education and enforcement, our troopers are constantly working to keep Nebraska roads safe,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “When you’re behind the wheel, your primary focus should be driving. Help keep yourself and others safe by eliminating distractions by putting your phone down.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 3,000 people were killed in crashes involving distracted driving in 2022, accounting for 8% of all roadway fatalities across the country.
