SIDNEY - A few thunderstorms forecast for Saturday afternoon may become strong to severe with heavy rainfall, gusty winds and large hail, according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for Kimball, Cheyenne, Perkins and Chase Counties in Nebraska; Logan, Sedgwick and Phillips Counties in northeast Colorado and Laramie County in southeast Wyoming.
The NWS says the main area of concern will be along the I-80 corridor from Cheyenne to Sidney and the eastern plains of Colorado from noon to 5 p.m. Tornadoes are unlikely, but can't be ruled out.
Thunderstorm chances continue through Monday as an unsettled weather pattern continues. Thunderstorm coverage becomes more isolated by the middle of the week.
