Oktoberfest includes community survey
McShaff & Associates representatives are at Oktoberfest this weekend in Sidney encouraging people to comment on the Sidney Safety Action Plan.
SIDNEY -- Among the pretzels, bratwurst and sauerkraut, number renditions of entertainment and continuous tapping of the kegs, there was also a chance to voice your opinion on the city of Sidney.
Representatives of McShaff and Associates was at the Oktoberfest encouraging residents and people who are in Sidney frequently to voice their opinions on what in the infrastructure needs improved, what are community assets and even some visions. Susan Myer talked about what bring them to Oktoberfest.
"We are working with the City of Sidney and we're at Oktoberfest gathering public comments and information about streets and traffic safety in Sidney," Myer said.
She said the research is the result of a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.
"The Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, has grant funding and Sidney has acquired a grant through them to put together a plan for safe streets for all," Myer said.
She said once the plan is in place, the City can apply for more funds to implement projects. McShaff will have a booth at Oktoberfest through Sunday. She said they have received many comments throughout the weekend.
"We've been hearing from people throughout the community and from outside the community that use the streets in Sidney. There's a variety of comments," she said.
