NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — A North Platte man sustained serious injuries Monday morning after being struck by a semi at the intersection of 4th and Jeffers streets.

The incident occurred at 11:20 a.m., according to North Platte Police Department. Authorities said the middle-aged man had just crossed the intersection when he fell off the curb and was struck by the northbound semi.

The man was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with significant injuries to his lower extremities.

Northbound traffic on the “S” curve to 4th Street was rerouted to Willow Street while officials investigated the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
