Supernovas leaving Pro Volleyball Federation to start new league

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha Supernovas are the defending champs of the Pro Volleyball Federation, but no matter what happens they won't be the defending champs next year.
That's because the Supernovas are leaving the league.
That surprise announcement came in a joint statement Thursday from the Supernovas and the Pro Volleyball Federation.
Team officials said the statement that the Supernovas will instead be a founding member of a new volleyball league starting in January of next year, Major League Volleyball. A statement from the team says the league will have at least ten teams, although their locations have yet to be revealed.
The Supernovas' home games will still be in the CHI Health Center.
As for the PVF, they say they're keeping their other teams based in Atlanta, Columbus, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Orlando, San Diego and Las Vegas.
The Supernovas will be playing the rest of their PVF schedule this season.
